well..the section she's in is called 'Last words'
its usually the same questions to different musicians every month.
there's a pic, but its the one with the heart shaped glasses.

i did translate it, sorry for any grave mistakes i did it in like 10 minutes.

there's also a gig review but its shite, so i won't translate it..i might scan the picture featured.

anyway...here's the 'interview'

What luxuary do you allow yourself?

Shoes. Over the years I’ve collected over 80 pairs.

What frightens you?

Being abandoned. My biologigal father was a complete ladies man he begot 6 children in England and Australia and did not take responsibility for even a single one of them. Having not seen him for 20 years, he showed up to one of my concerts one day. It really pissed me off when he asked me if his disappearance nurtured my talent – which is actually half right. When I was little, I had been sexually abused for a long time. This Experience left me with infinite anger. I would have never made it without the support of my mother and the man I call my father, who raised me as if I was his child.
Music was my salvation. I thank god that I found music.

Which ‘big album’ in Rock history leaves you unimpressed?

I hate Kiss. Everybody who even dares calling any of their albums ‘masterpiece’ deserves a punch in the face. Metallica…ewww!
And The Who isn’t really my thing either, although ‘Live in Leeds’ is a solid album.

Which historical event would you love to have witnessed?

When women got the right of suffrage.

Anything about the Beatles that wasn’t even THAT good?

The fact that John insisted on Yoko being present at all sessions.
Love is blind and sometimes its daft. I’m sure she’s really nice but probably a bit of a bait as well.

What question pisses you off?

‘How does it feel to be a woman in the rockscene?’ No Idea! What am I supposed to compare it with?

Is there a club one should definitely go to?

I don’t go to clubs frequently. I used to work as a bouncer in Melbourne when I was 17.
Back then I was hanging around a lot with the Lebanese Mafia, they got my those jobs.
I was driving their Boss Larry Hafer ,who had some sort of fatherly feelings for me.
I wasn’t even able to drive nor did I have a licence.

Are you a ‘Dancer’ or a ‘Stayer’?

I love dancing. Just to name some classics:
Howlin’ Wolf, a bit of 80s new wave, goth and a bit of boogie.

What was your most horrendous gig ever?

It was at the Berlin Festival. They gave us the fault for the failing of the festival.
We started with wodka-red bull at 7 in the morning, we only played our set half way through (I can’t remember why), Andy pissed on a guy and broke his arm when he tried to jump over the crush barriers. I still remember that I wiped gravel out of Fergie’s face (yes, Black eyed Peas Fergie) after she fell into the mudd and that I locked her in in our bus.

What’s the biggest bullshit that was ever said about you?

In a review Someone once insulted me as pockmarked whore.
That really got to me, I sat at Heathrow Airport crying.

What’s your favorite sound?

The laugh of my daughter and the soothing voice of my husband.

Which other musicians do you envy?

Pj Harvey. Her voice is more haunting and spectral than anything—Thom Yorke’s nothing next to her.

Why are women in Bands a rare thing?

Many women just don’t get a chance. Just the other day we were supposed to play this festival and the organizer told us: ‘We already got 2 Bands with shouting women on the Line up.’
But what about the 20 other Bands with shouting men?

When is it time to stop?

Once you can’t climb the stairs anymore.

I can somewhat relate to the whole father thing. If he ever came back into my life [which I highly doubt now] I don't know what I'd do.

Abandonment truly sucks.

I feel for her.

brody mentioned in nme blog

"We had Brody Dalle of The Distillers for a few years, earlier this decade, but marriage and motherhood seem to have sapped her of rage."

i was shocked that she talked about some of the stuff so openly.

as i said, those questions are the same every month, given to different musicians, but most of them only reply in like one sentence. i was surprised to see brody revealing that much of her past.

(On NME) I don't agree with the Suicide Girls part.
I don't know much about SG, but I think in general ideological music is simply not in vogue right now.
And the few bands I know of who have written political music in the 2000s.. Well, they have been unsatisfactory.

P.S. Maybe women simply don't feel like screaming at the moment? Maybe we don't feel forced to be agressive, bold and raging to get our voice heard? Feminist discussions often tend to get twisted into a kind "either your butch or you support the dominance of males" attitude. Just like men, we have the right to express ourselves in any genre we like. Be it punk or gospel. Pfff.

I wonder if whoever wrote that was immediately struck by lightning.

I'm not one to defend NME but I reckon the HW thing has been taken out of context, they were saying the only thing that comes close to that kind of music is Paramore (not true, the writer obviously didn't look very hard) which is a bad thing, cause Paramore don't make music that is controversial, outspoken and inspiring.

The Brody thing too. I don't think she was being criticised for having mellowed out, I think they were just complaining that no young women were there to "fill the gap" so to speak. After all, I think rage is associated with young people anyway.

I do agree with Tracy though. There's still women making this kind of music, its just not relevant any more. It was inspiring in the 90's cause it was new and there was a reason for it. Now it calls for other kinds of music, that can still be bold without being aggressive. Still just as inspiring to women.

I also agree that I haven't heard good political music either.

idem.

side note: back in the golden days of dial-up, I remember everybody thought Suicide Girls was amazing because of the legend it had been started (and run) by women... then there was the Burlesque Tour...
