Does anyone here use the rod...the contreceptive one I mean

Ive been on it for 8-10 weeks and I havent stopped bleeding since it went in. Aside from a random few days.


Has anybody else ever experienced this?

I also:
Have gained weight
Keep getting belly ache (more so when people lean on my stomach or im laying on it myself)
Feel sick in the mornings and late at night
Keep waking up really hot/just waking up

Is this normal?

i don't care what any dr. says, birth control is not good for you. period.

I'm still iffy on the subject of them.

I'm like forgotten, theres something about the idea of extra helpings of hormones that doesn't sit right with me.

if you google contraceptive rod, the first site says all the side-effects you mentioned and others..

nothing is more sacred than your body. not even sex.

I have never had a problem with birth control, spermicides or latex, I am the luckiest girl alive! Also condoms should be used all time even if you are on bith control

word. my sister inlaw was on birth control when my three year old niece was conceived. i'm not for certain, but i think that might even put your pregnancy at high risk. i could be wrong, though.

go to the doctor if your worried about it.

She would be the 1 out of 100 that get pregnant, it's always good to use a condom too, as back up if the condom fails, that's how I look at birth control. It's only harmful if it's taken during the pregnancy for too long, it would stop it's growth and whatnot, causing health problems.

I love birth control, it makes my skin nice, my cramps aren't as severe as before, and no babies. What more could I ask for? ahah

ANYWAYS, I think you (Vicky) should go to the doctor and ask, it could just be temporary side effects for the first 3 months or so. I know sometimes that can be the case, since it's just starting to work or something like that? I don't now.

Probably that kind of contraceptive rod is not good for you!!

birth control isn't good for you. i can't imagine why anyone would think not letting your womanly features run their natural course is good for you...

These things take time to work but if you had problems so soon with it get on something else...probably bit too late now with this starting in september!!

I swear by contraception I use 2 methods, I'm paranoid even with using 2 methods. I'm on the pill which I think is quite a natural way of stopping yourself being pregnant...I wouldn't like to have the injection and not come on at all. I don't want babies until I'm older and thats the way it will stay.

There is nothing natural about taking a pill.

The only "natural" way to prevent pregnancy is abstinence.

The more research I have done on the contreceptive rod, the more I am starting to be against it, you have a chance of puncturing your uterus, I say use the pill and condoms should ALWAYS be used

Also birth control raises your potassium levels, if you have the option go for a low hormone, low potassium(sp?) birth control, my mom is on a pill thats both because she was having issues and couldn't eat bananas anymore and my momma loves her bananas

this rod thing sounds like the coil and the coil is usually only used after having had babies, I really would rather take a pill then having something like that done. And what I meant by natural is that it's made up of hormones already in there (how DO they do that!?) so.

Playing with hormones is not natural nor smart. Hormonal balance is absolute KEY in body harmony and general health.

I wouldn't be healthy either way. I feel really strongly about contraception because of my paranoia and the amount of kids pregnant because they forgot or didnt go on it.

I guess that's why it's the parent's duty to instill sexual moral with abstinence and/or condoms.
Instead they just shove a pill in their kid's mouth or implant some foreign object into their uterus. Hey, I've got a great idea! How about we get a clinic running for free vasectomies at the age of ten!!! Then we can be worry-free forever!

Cool if you support it. My point is there are more effective, healthier ways of getting the job done. This way is just lazy and expensive and can be dangerous.

There are lots of books on it. Check out the health section next time you go to Borders or something. One is called The Hormone Solution.

I'm Thinking i may get attacked for this(I'm a guy) but how can you be so closeminded and ignorant?....
You can blab away but people have sex, it just happens, and for many the pill or other methods are very effective and do not harm the women and in many instances can help with things such as period cramps and heavy bleeding like my own GF.

There are healthier ways to eliminate pregnancy.

There are other ways, too, to help with your girlfriend's cramping pains. Eating bananas every day is one way to help relieve the pain (has to be every day, even while not on the rag).

Well said 'Forgotten'. I realised afterwards that i had jumped the gun ever-so-slightly!!
I appreciate and respect the way you to replied to what i said. Rather than simply spittting some retort back at me you stated your point and only at the end gave me any stick about my post......

I have to say as much as i respect the idea of abstinence it simply doesn't work in my world, whatever anybody might think of that or feel i'm iggnorant or foolish to say such a thing....
But thats not to say i'm foolish about the way i approach having sex. i realise i am not ready to have a child and it is very important to me that if i do bring a child into this world that i can give it the best circumstances, loving home and opportunities that i can possibly provide. I'm not perfect but generally i need to be in a loving realationship to have sex.....Its not something i regard lightly. Either through the emotions or consequences involved.

Anyways.... I hope the first part of this post doesn't sound patronising to you, i don't mean it to!
I was probably just in an argumentitive mood before. sorry.

Everyone is different. Every child has different needs. The parent needs to be in tune with that. But, like I said, there are healthier ways of reducing pregnancy risk than the rod.
