Dirty Pretty Things have split up.

In an exclusive statement to NME.COM the four piece – Carl Barat, Didz Hammond, Gary Powell and Anthony Rossomando – announced the break-up of the band that formed in 2005 following the split of The Libertines.

Frontman Carl Barat explained that the members of the band would be pursuing new musical projects, but that these would not involve The Libertines.

"It is with some sadness we announce the farewell of the Dirty Pretty Things," the statement read. "It's been a glorious three years which we all would gladly live out again, but it is time for us to try new things (not The Libertines).

"We are reluctant to give up touring but will give the last waltz everything. We have and are determined to go out as we came in, after which we all have other ventures to be getting on with and splendid future plans.

"Heartfelt thanks to all who made it what it was, much love and we'll see you on the road."

i'm totally gutted about this..... i've seen them live loads of times and they were amazing live.
going to dpt shows was almost like my daily bread
fuck it..now i can't see them anymore.

but we kind of saw it coming..all the fights and then the album was anything but a success...
still i'm gonna fucking miss them

their nirvana cover at Reading festival this year was aewsome!

yeah... i've only seen some semi-good videos on youtube...
i wish i could hear carls voice more clearly on this one!
they used to play nirvana alot at their dj sets as well and carl would jump around like a lunatic..awww..

they've done some rubbish covers in their time though.
they coverd glasvegas' its my own cheating heart....hahahahha unbelievably awful.

Ahh, I'm in love with The Libertines.
I saw Babyshambles live, and Kate Moss was there singing.
I'm not sure who I like most, Libertines or Babyshambles.

I thought the whole "fame" thing with the libertines was a bit strange, I saw them years ago playing a teeny tiny little place, like the size of a sitting room (they were great by the way!), then only a few months later they had completely blown up and played the biggest place in my city possible! (again the show was great). Then after that, people who wouldn't generally be interested in their music seemed to latch on just to follow Pete's struggles, they turned it into some kind of circus freak show!

A lot of people don't like Pete cos of his drugs but he is one amazing musician and song writer.

but the shambles are not the same anymore...i love the DIA-shambles..when pat was still guitarist. (i honestly believe he is one of the guitarists of our generation..too bad far too less people actually know about him!)

pete is still a good lyricist but the music has sufferd so much imo
they sound like any other indie rock band nowadays.
