One of my main loves.

When I first moved to Manchester I got to see a company called 1927 do an original piece called "Between The Devil And The Deep Blue Sea" It was a multimedia piece, using film, live piano and two actors, inspired by silent film and cabaret. There are only 3 people in the piece, and I highly suggest if you get a chance to go see it. Or any other production they might tour with.

I also really enjoy DV8, the physical theatre group.

And that guy really doesn't have any legs. He's from Leeds and teaches a lot of workshops.

I hate the theater.
But I loved Attack Of The Theater People[/url:1cont73k]

I love theatre but rarely go.

Last time I went to see a epic play called "Mental Finland", by a crazy Finnish writer/director Kristian Smeds, which was performed here in Brussels in early spring. It was certainly an experience.

And ohhh, I saw a theatre version of "The Waves" in Luxembourg last October, it was performed by a British theatre group. It was delightful, one of the most innovative plays I've ever seen.

Hopefully I will be in a touring theatre group one day <3

I'm going to see "Waiting For Godot" with Ian Mckellen, Patrick Stewart and Simon Callow at the Haymarket in London at the end of July. So excited.

Oh, and do you remember the name of the theatre group?

My sister wants to be an actress.. She was on a camp last summer in the UK and in autumn she begins a foundation year course of acting in Stradford.

Oh awesome!

I first read that as "Salford" which is the university I'm at. I think when I've finished my degree I might try a stage school. I want to do theatre rather than TV, but there's barely any money in theatre, not that I want to be rich, but I mean, there's not enough money to actually live off just being in the theatre.

Many of my teachers do it to support themselves as they aren't getting paid enough just acting. I personally think its worth it though.

The good thing about acting is that one can always do it as a hobby in amateur theatre groups.

One cannot be an amateur lawyer.

here, the theater is an excuse for actors/actresses to get naked in a way that's considered "artsy".

keep in mind since we have a very limited movie industry, when i say actors and actresses i mean people who are in soap operas.

Unfortunately, they import your sopa operas to Finland.
And our channels show nothing else, at least in the summers when I'm there and have nothing else to do than sit in front of a TV and wish I were dead or at least in a coma until real programs begin at 4 pm.

you're kidding right?
you don't mean [i:3tkrdt19]our[/i:3tkrdt19] soap operas literally...
that would be way too freaky.

Well, South American soap operas. At least one of them must be Brasilian.
"OMG HE'S CHEATING ON HIS WIFE WITH HIS SECRETARY WHO IS THE GIRLFRIEND OF THE WIFE'S SISTER'S MURDERER!!!"

I would quite like writing a soap opera. It allows great imagination.

I'd say watch Ugly Betty, but from what I gather, it looks nothing like the original.

the people are REALLY ugly, and the acting is really Mexican.
you know, cartoonishly exaggerated.
i've never really watched it, those kinds of soaps run mid-afternoon on channels nobody watches.

first chapter: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFLcQIm69V0[/url:r3vv8kg3] (betty only appears near the 8-minute mark)

haha, i was trying to find out when it ran originally (my guess was '98-'99, it was actually from '99-'01) and found out it's actually a Colombian soap.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Betty_la_fea[/url:r3vv8kg3]

i guess i don't know my soaps that well.
