So what's next? In what direction will Brody venture in musically? Clearly the QOTSA sound has been done and no longer popular, lets admit that Spinnerette sounded a bit dated.

I don't blame people for not caring about this record, it just wasn't what the doctored ordered. Music enthusiasts and many in the Industry were expecting something phenomenal from Brody Dalle but were completely dissapointed by the once known as the Queen of Rock. I personally love this record but like many were expecting more. Her new work is insulting to the Distillers era.

My advice for Brody is listed below:

1. Don't work with Johannes anymore, you did it once and it didnt work, work with somebody different.

2. Do not release songs that did not make it in the first album as your new record, start off fresh. I want to hear the rage or passion in your music.

3. Image is crucial and woman for god sakes get your Sex appeal back, you have def let yourself go and look like a beer guzzling mother, lose the weight and play the Rock Godess sex symbol you once were, Sex sells baby doll and you know this, you played one in the early part of your career.

4. Go back on tour and perform Distillers songs, give people what they want to hear.

5. Update the spinnerette website, your fans actually care about your work .

6. I'm hopeful but you should consider re-uniting The Distillers as a live act at least for a short tour.....it will def bring in the $bucks, it will benefit all.

7. Promote your music in the states like there is no tomorow and try to open up for big acts to get some exposure.

8. you have your reasons why you don't have a permanent line up but a steady line can easily seduce fans...just pick good looking musicians not the fat tards I saw on stage.

9. Lets hears a duet with Shirley Manson, or with any other great male or female vocalist. You should Probably rap, get Drake or Nikki Minaj on the record....haha, ok I was kidding about the Rapping part.

my advice for izzy beat:

- ask your mother to kick your ass (you've probably never get enough)

- leave the board

- get a life

- take your medications every day ( you know, the pills your mommy gave you every morning to your milk)

and then shut the fuck up and listen to britney spears, cause she's so sexy and her music rocks -.-

fucking idiot!

Listen Gypsy Slut.....the only Queen B is me ok. Second I love Brody's talent she just needs to put it to correct use. I'm hopeful she will make a great record with Spinnerette but she needs a creative director, she should def hire me.

I wish this guy was deaf instead of someone else on this planet, anyone really... what a waste of acouesthesia.

Brody kicks more ass than ever!
Her music is honest and solid.
And for heaven's sake, she's not a puppet, so stop giving her advice she doesn't need.

Well to be fair...any album is a failure now. CDs do not sell as they use to. Death to the CD generation.

you are a dumbass. who the f*ck are you to tell a woman to get her "sex appeal" back, a sexy woman is one who's comfortable in their skin. she's a mother, how dare you insult someone like that. and have you been to any of the spinnerette shows? the one in toronto i went to was nuts, packed liked ive never seen the bovine, people of all ages cheering, singing along and generally loving it, and thats what i call a success. so screw you, this entire thread should be deleted based on your sheer stupidity, rudeness, insensitivity and for just being a plain douchebag. if you dont like the band, dont go on its website and share your lame-ass opinion that no one else agrees w clearly. if you want britney spears manufactured garbage, then go to HER website. if you want an artist that cares more about how they look than being proud of their sound, go check out miley cyrus and a million other losers. you are a PR*CK izzy beat and deserve to die a virgin for talking about a woman in such a way and her weight. whatever self-loathing youre reflecting on others, its not welcome here.

Lets be honest though..how many folk go to these shows because they like Spinnerette? And how many go because it's "Brody and Tony from The Distillers."?

Plz don't insult Miley. Tom might come back.

Ok first - You are a chauvinistic pig!!!!!! When women have babies they DO NOT look the same after - everyone knows that you tit!!! Personally, i think Brody still has sex appeal - she's beautiful!! Maybe you should take a long look in the mirror before you start trying to make other people feel bad. As i imagine you're probably an ugly f*ck who tries to make other people feel bad to make yourself feel better!!

Secondly - if you don't like the music - go listen to something else and get over it!!

And Finally - Get a life and stop telling people how to do their job. Brody probably knows lots of people in the music industry who know EXACTLY what they are talking about (her f*cking husband for one) - so IF she needs ANY advice I'd imagine she'll take it from them and not some insulting, idiotic NOTHING who posts a load of nonsense on her message board - which btw is meant FOR FANS!!

Cheers

x :)

Geez, lol.

I like the record, but it got old fast...nothing exciting. You people like Brody because you're all nostalgic of the old Distillers days that are not comming back, lets give Brody some productive criticism so she can better her music. Hey I was a teenager and in 2001-2007 The Distillers were my favorite band but not so much anymore although I still love the music.

I just feel that Spinnerette has potential to be great and not mediocre. Hopefully she finds the inspiration she needs.

Also don't knock Britney or Miley.

I've been following Spinnerette since they started. To me, the QOTSA sound only came after Sex Bomb's original release.
The Ghetto Love EP had some unique, cool vibe to it. Sex Bomb came along and it was completely different.
I like all of Spinnerette's music, it's great and the OP is being a twat because they lost their virginity to a toaster which, incidentally, burnt off their genitalia.

I highly doubt Spinnerette cares whether or not they are considered a "commercial" success, and as a fan I could care less. Some of the best bands and albums, in my opinion, are not considered "commercial" successes. Look at The Wipers, Jesus Lizard, Big Black, the Breeders (outside of Last Splash, no other Breeders albums have been "commercial" success but they are all awesome), Pissed Jeans, X, Slint, Shellac, etc. I doubt anyone would consider them "commercially" successful, and I doubt they'd want to be considered that either but their music is fucking amazing and they make enough to get by.
I've been listening to Brody's music since for the past eight years and I highly respect her as a musician and lyricist. I can't wait to hear new music from her, whatever it may be and with whomever she wishes to work with. And of course Spinnerette is going to be influenced by QOTSA! Hello, Alain Johannes is in the band! Of course people are influenced by those that surround them.

You're a real bloody Panty Stain, If one chooses not to be commercial they should never sign with a Major Record Label, even Spinnerette's Debut album was recorded with Sire's finance but she got out of her contract luckily.
She deserves some commercial success, she should not go down in Rock Music History as the Rock chick that could of been the reigning Queen of Rock because she chose to make mediocre music. She has the vocals and the lyrical talent to make something great out of herself and she could make a pretty penney out of it.

Great music doesn't necessarily equate to commercial success. I'll take a band making music the way they want it to sound over success any day.

Ignoring all the BS he said, the truth is I'd very much like - and I believe I'm not alone in this, that Brody and Tony would do some kind of reunion tour or at least play some of the old songs. Not saying she should, it'd just be nice.

And I also think he's totally right about the lack of updates in the website, whatever the reasons. If nothing is said for so much time, people start not to care.

Oi, thanks. I was reading the info about them on that page and it made mention of Allison being in a punk band called Discount before she was in the Kills! I didn't know that! What the fuck!

So I tried downloading a torrent of them but it's all ghetto and won't download. fucking shit. >: ( Going to kill myself now, see you all later.

I lol'd at the responses to this thread.

It has reminded me I need to listen to The Kills more though.

I didn't know you liked them. I love them. Allison is sooo pretty, I love her. She's got me having stars in my eyes.

I don't really know if I like them yet. I've had a couple of their albums on my ipod a while but haven't listened to them properly.

It seems like the kind of music I would like though...

I think Cat Claw is my favorite song from them, you should listen to it. I also like Restaurant Blouse, it's a cute little track.

They are definitely one of my favorites. I like that the band consists of only 2 people, and I enjoy the simplicity of most of their songs.
