I just started smoking. im not to the point where i want em every 2 secs but i do get small cravings cuz their fun 2 smoke when im bored. i tried lights, then the regular ones and im just wondering if its really bad to smoke em everyday or should i stick to the weekends i dont know. who here smokes? i need tips and cool tricks i can do my friend took his cig out with his tongue! and then i took it to the extreme and did my leg, no i have a burn mark..

ive smoked on and off for 3/4 years
and now ive been constantly smoking up to 10/20 a day for 6/7 month and i wish id never started again.

its a waste of money, and after a while you start to feel terrible.
id love to quit but tbh their the only things that keep me sane.

I normally ask peeps around me before I light up a cig, atleast then you wont get anyone talking about you like complaining to their friends etc

I do the same. And i never smoke around children, or pregnant women, or old people, unless its my boyfriends grandparents cause they smoke.

People who don't smoke are so quick to judge smokers.
Whereas, we're usually polite. Every smoker I know is polite about it. Asks the people around them before they light up, or do it away from people.

I agree, quit your preaching, I doubt you'll find anyone who hasn't heard it before, smoker or non.
You can tell me all you want about what smokers will be like when they're 40 but I've heard it before, I KNOW what can happen.
So telling me the same things I've heard for the 4 years I've been smoking plus the years before that isn't going to suddenly click something on in my brain and make me quit smoking forever.
The point isn't that I don't think smokers should quit, it's that someone has to quit for themselves, they have to want it and shoving your opinions down their throats isn't going to make them want it most of the time, it's going to make them resent you.

If you don't smoke that's okay and if you do smoke, as long as you are considerate of those around you who don't, then it's okay too.
I will admit I can't stand when people throw their cigarette butts out in public places on the ground, especially when there is an ash tray no more than 6 feet away, or when they smoke around children, even if it's their children.

I guess what I'm trying to say is smoking is your choice. So keep it that way, don't push your choice on other people.

i smoked for four years. until i got pregnant. just be aware of who you're smoking around, that's all i'm saying. there are these two girls that live below us that smoke right underneath us instead of walking two yards to the awning designated for smoking. my unborn baby and i get to breathe in their smoke. it's just not polite.

as far as the picture is concerned, i was poking fun at nightcrawler's "smoking is fine" comment. cuz it's not. but all the more power to ya! everyone's got rights. i'll be sure to quit joking around, i guess.

I only said posting the picture was disgusting. As i said earlier, and as Azzy apparently agrees with, smokers are aware of what it does to their body. But they do it anyway for their own reasons.

My friend watched her grandfather die of lung cancer. But she still smokes.

We know what it can do, so wasting millions of tax payers dollars on those fucking low budget looking No Stank You commericals is a fucking waste of money. We know what's in them, we know what they do. And we choose to smoke. Just like others choose not to.

As for the original topic of the thread, quitting smoking.........
Talk to your doctor, try the patch and the gum and see which works best for you.
Watch movies. Go out to public places. Do shit where you know you won't be able to smoke.
And if you decide on the gum, eventually just switch to normal gum.

i wouldn't do the patch or gum. they can give you mouth/skin cancer. if that's not good enough for you, i've known of people who have been addicted to the patch or the gum longer than they were addicted to smoking cigarettes. nicottine is nicottine. anyone who has ever successfully quit that i've ever spoken with (including myself) agrees that cold turkey is the only way to go. just get out of the habbit of buying them. that's a MAJOR step.

Urgh, smoking.
Started....quit.
The started again a wee while later for some stupid reason.
Now, i am trying to stop once again.
Was down from 5+ a day, to two a day, which i find good.
I'm pleased that i managed that all by myself, no patches, nothing.
Just pure willpower.
However, i'm finding it so hard to get off those final two..or even cutting it down to one.
Patches here i comes.

Uni deadlines don't help me on my pursuit of quitting...

I agree with NightCrawler completely. It's pretty obvious that smoking is harmful, it says like "Smoking Kills" on the fucking packets.

i think the reason why court can't wait for smoking to be banned in public places is for the health of the non-smokers. and the smell of cigarettes and the fact that you have smoke right before your face.. horrible.

I don't live in America. And I make a big deal about it, because hundreds of people die every year, and in Sweden the government are paying the hospital to help these people. So it's basically my money they smoke up.

I don't smoke. Although, I don't bother to judge/look down apon those who do.
Both my 'rents smoke. It's a gross habit/addiction, but yeah, wouldn't judge someone for doing so.
