how much are you willing to pay for a one hour swedish massage? My business and ethics class told us to charge about $100, but my family says no one will pay that unless they're rich. any suggestions?

not yet, but i'm almost done with school and i have no job....so i'm worried.

Get your license first. It's illegal otherwise. You could go to jail for fraud or some shit. Also, it takes a lot more than just telling your friends/family you'll work on them. My sister started charging about nine months ago. Since then, she's only gotten a few massages done. Once you're licensed, you're going to have to do some major marketing if you're going to do this freelance.
Also, I recommend doing it out of your own home, for freelance. And if you're alone, make sure you tell someone else (your mom or best friend etc.) whenever you have appointments. It could be a serial killer/racist's dream opportunity.
I'm not trying to discourage you or anything. But these things should not be overlooked.

i am gonna get my license. for now i'm planning ahead...i will do the massages at my place or my sisters and someone will always be there i know there are some sick pervs out there so i will be careful. i was thinking of just working with pregnant women(probably safer).... for now i'm practicing on family and friends.... need to make some money you know?

Well, a masseuse has sex with her clients after their massage. That's where the phrase "happy endings" comes from. So you might want to stick with "massage therapist."
