So..

I just got diagnosed with manic depresesesesion. (sp -_-) And I'm having some trouble dealing with it. Even right now I feel impossiblely(?) giddy. v_v

So yeah. I need someone who's old and wise to give me some advice. XD

They diagnosed me as bipolar when I was a teenager. They had me on a gram of Lithium every day AND sleeping pills. I took them for a year and weaned myself off. I haven't been on any medication since and am now completely fine.
While some cases are real, doctors do tend to often misinterpret emotional [i:qn6npt3j]growing pains[/i:qn6npt3j] for a chemical imbalance. Mostly for the convenience of their business' income. They're assholes like that.
Take that for whatever it's worth.

I would go to therapy to see if its more issues in personal life or an actual chemical imbalance. Someone times depression is due to problems with our daily life and not our brains. Also, it might be possible that you are on too much mg of your medicine.

Not only that, but diet and physical well-being is a HUGE part of it as well.

I know a lady who I [i:2ig10y00]think[/i:2ig10y00] is bi polar. She is a damn lunatic. Whatever the fuck she is, she's got serious problems.

My dad's bi-polar, sister is too.

And I'll try to answer everything..

1. I've been in every kind of fucking therapy under the sun- which just ends up pissing me off. Exsept group therapy.

2. I've been off my meds for a week and I still feel up and down.

3. I'm healthy although I could work out more and gain some muscel (?) tone.

my friend was given happy pills for her depression even though she was pregnant, and continued to take them right through her pregnancy and is still on them now.

i dont think she is depressed myself and i dont think the doctor should have prescribed them to her whilst she was pregnant :huh:

i, personally, think "happy pills" tend to be pushed on people who don't need them.
and example, would be my sister. her doctor told her she was gaining weight, and thought that because of it, my sister had become depressed (when actually, she just went to the appointment high), so the doctor gave her some drug to make her happy again. it turned out that when she stopped taking the pills she ended up feeling really really shitty, even worse then when she was "depressed'.
this makes me serioulsy consider the state of medicine.

my mate also feels worse when she stops taking them and like i said i dont think she was depressed in the first place.

haha fuck yeah.. see now that is a good post.. depression robs so many people of so many things in their lives, but i am very apprehensive to trying anything like antidepressants

I just wanted to also say.. That the past 2 months I haven't been sleeping. Maybe 2-3 hours of sleep.. I don't know if thats a syptom.. someone said it was

Forgotten is right. Doctors pass out meds like its candy or something. I was on every medication under the sun for a couple of years til I finally just had to get off that shit. I couldnt take it anymore. I think most of it was just "emotional growing pains" as forgotten said, maybe mixed with some depression. I mean if you seriously have manic depression then you should definitely talk to a professional, but I would do research on any meds they want to put you on. My ex is bi-polar and passes out from his meds sometimes and has all other crazy side effects. I personally think he was better off when he wasnt taking meds. He has way more issues now than he ever did.

i was told by my therapist recently that i'm bipolar. But apparently i was to depressing even for her cuz she won't see me anymore unless i get on meds for it. I WON'T! they will mess with my head and make me "normal". Why would i want that?It's aload of crap as far as i'm concerned.I dealing with it on my own.It's dificult still.My family couldn't care less. -hell is other people- OH yeah i'm also ADD.

I've actually heard people admit they wished they were bipolar (probably for attention purposes, I'm not really quite sure). They obviously don't know what it means. It's not your every-day depression. It is [i:ocn5pvia]extremely[/i:ocn5pvia] intense. I'd say take average depression, anxiety and irritability and multiply it by one hundred.

I know someone who lied about it when she became a Kurt Cobain fan.

A girl I know was always pretending she had all kinds of mental disorders. It mostly started after she saw that movie with Angelina Jolie... I can't remember the name right now. Anyway, she was really annoying with it. She'd pretend to hear voices and such.

I just can't understand it.

I was recently diagnosed with depression but more specifically bi polar. No one who hasnt experienced it can totally understand what it feels like.
