That's really weird. When are you due this time around? I want another baby, but now just isn't a good time. And I'm scared to go through it again.

having had a dating scan yet but i've worked out between 23rd and 27th of december.

i didn't plan a second child until tyler was at least 3 but he'll be 2 and a half when this baby arrives so its just right.

wasn't worried the first time round coz had no idea what to expect, but this time i am a little nervous about the birth coz i remember certain things like having an episiotomy which also meant having stitches which made going to the toilet afterwards absolutely painful and almost impossible.

i really hope i dont have that again

I didn't have an episiotomy, but I did tear. And I didn't use drugs, which I was very happy about (afterwards). What I didn't like though, was that they only let us stay for a couple days in the hospital and after that I got one check up and then I didn't qualify for my insurance anymore because I wasn't pregnant. I think that new moms should get a little more help than that. Especially first time moms.

Anyway, congrats on the new baby. It seems like winter time would be a good time to go through the last parts because it's not so hot. It was just starting to get warm for me and I was miserable.

the reason i had to be cut was coz tyler's head came out with the cord around his neck but his arm was also lodged between his head and the cord which was a good thing as the cord wasn't actually around his throat, but my vagina refused to stretch that much and when i saw the scissors in the midwife's hand i turned white with fear.

yea i'm glad i won't be going through the third trimester in the summer this time, it doesn't feel good.

So, instead of starting a whole new thread, I decided to just re-use this one.
My husband has been trying to talk me into having another baby. I totally want to, but not right now. He doesn't want our kids to be too far apart in age because he thinks they'll have a closer relationship when they're older. His parents had kids just about every two years and they're all hugs and "I love you"s. My brother and I are just over a year apart and we fought like crazy, but we're kind of close (I don't have a close family) and my other brother is 6 years older than me and we've never even had a conversation. Ever.
Anyway, I was just wondering what you guys think is too much of an age gap. I try to tell my husband that age isn't the only thing involved in a close family, but he still wants another kid soon.

My sister and I are four years apart and my brother and I are eight years apart. We fought mildly as children, but we always had a closer relationship than most siblings we knew. We're all absolute best friends now. It all depends on the kid.

Really, it all boils down to the fact that you don't feel ready. If you're not ready, you're not ready. That's okay. And it's definitely okay to wait.

It sounds vain of me, but I just got my body back. I don't think he understands the emotional aspect of it all. I was just getting comfortable with my body when I got pregnant, and now that I'm just getting back to that I don't want to do it all over again. I do want more kids though.

Just do what you need to do. I'm sure he'll understand.

Oh, I know. I was just wondering what everyone else thinks is too far apart for having kids.

Phoenix is two, right? I think you have plenty of time. I mean, I think about my own parents. They each have five siblings. Imagine the age difference between the youngest and oldest. They, too, were all good friends growing up and still are.

That's what I think, but he thinks his family is close mostly because there isn't much age difference from one to the next. I think the oldest in his family is about 8 years older than the youngest so I don't really get his logic...

if i had actually planned my second pregnancy i think i would have waited until tyler was about 4.

my best friend just had a baby and her first child is 4 and a half.

i have 5 other siblings and we all have about 2-3 years between us but my mum just loved having kids.

I should also mention I have a four year old niece who is a new sister. She LOVES her brother so much. She tries to help out with everything and is always kissing him and showing him her toys. She'll lift up her shirt to try to feed her dolls. She even introduces him as "my Gavin." It's so adorable.

When my sister was born I was almost 3, and I would shove my baby dolls under my shirt and try to breast feed

I tried to breast feed her once right when she came home. It's all caught on tape. I've had boobs since i was 2, its amazing
